Our Last Day

Two weeks went incredibly fast. I can't believe this trip I've been looking forward to for so long is over.

Today was our last day in Israel. In the morning, we went to the Israeli Museum where the Dead Sea Scrolls and several finds from our dig are kept. It was a beautiful museum filled with all kinds of neat artifacts.

Recreation of Jerusalem in the time of Jesus including the Temple Mount.

The room where the Dead Sea Scroll replicas are kept.

An altar from the time of Jesus

The bones of a woman buried with her dog

Ossuaries (bone boxes) of the Jesus family

The Jesus son of Joseph ossuary

The ossuary of Caiaphas the high preist

A heel bone with a crucifixion nail in it

A roman sword that Dr. Gibson found on our site

And on the way home Dr. Tabor wore the captains hat!

We had lunch at a local place that we loved after the museum because we were starving. We spent about 5 hours waiting to leave for the airport an our flight leaves at 11pm. The joy of going across time zones is that we get a whole day back!

I can't wait to be home.

Surprisingly the security process at the airport was nothing compare to last year. We got through without a problem.
The flight was almost 13 hours long and we had some mild turbulence but not too bad. I watched so many movies on the flight home: Dallas Buyers Club, Silver Linings Playbook, The Lone Survivor, The Internship and About Last Night. I can't wait to go to sleep!

I am so thankful for this trip and all of the incredible experiences we had.
